what would you do with these lamps?

i picked up these teak wood and alabaster lamps about a month ago and have been pondering just what to do with them.  last night i stopped in urban nest and picked up these to black drum shades.  they are just what i had in mind!  but i’m in still in a conundrum…

what i can’t decide is what to do with the wood.  i was thinking of painting them a lacquered white, but i’m not sure if i should mess with the natural wood.  what would you guys do?  natural wood, different shades, painted white?  suggestions?
