boxes

over here at 3B I am in serious need of organization—specifically in the file area.  currently, we store our files (bills, important docs, undergrad papers, and misc) in our plastic college file boxes, which are bursting.  yikes!  after re-doing blake’s office (pics coming!) i decided to move our stuff into his storage space.  we still can’t fit a file cabinet there (nor do i want one right now), so file boxes seemed like the next logical solution    four boxes should be plenty, but when i went to the container store, each box was over $30!  too pricey for me!

i really  like the crisp look of these as opposed to dime-a-dozen office max file boxes.  enter the DIY.  i purchased four  office max boxes (just $15) with intentions to cover them.

originally i was thinking of a graphic paper.  i did this a while back with shoe boxes to store my…un-mentionables.  it was so easy (i love wraping presents!) they coordinate lovely with my bedroom decor.  so although a graphic paper is a nice option, i’m really drawn to the fabric look of the container store boxes.  SO, my *new* plan is to purchase fabric and use spray adhesive to cover the boxes.  because blake’s back area is green, i’m thinking of prints with yellows, blues and greens.  i’ve scoped out these online:

not sure if he’d go for the bird print, but you never know!  i’m planning a trip up to vogue fabrics soon, so i should get this done!  i’ll post pics if i’m successful!
